Asian-Style Meatballs

Ingredients
- 450g chicken mince
- 1⁄2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
- 1 whole egg
- 1⁄8 tsp salt
- 1⁄8 tsp pepper
- 1⁄8 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 tsp thyme, chopped
- 1⁄2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- SWEET & SPICY ASIAN SAUCE
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- 2 tsps honey
- 1⁄4 tsp chilli flakes
- 1⁄4 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1⁄2 tsp rice wine vinegar
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 200°C. In a large bowl add all of the meatball ingredients starting at the chicken and ending at the thyme. Mix to combine. Make sure not to over mix.
Step 2
Grease a baking sheet with oil. Portion out 14 meatballs. (Working with slightly wet hands helps the dough from sticking.) Place meatballs on the oiled baking sheet and cook for 15-20 minutes or until caramelised on the outside and cooked through. Make sure to ip half way through cooking.
Step 3
Whilst the meatballs are cooking, heat oil in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook for one minute. Add the soy sauce, honey, chilli akes, sesame seeds, sesame oil and rice wine vinegar. Cook for 2-3 minutes until simmering. Take o the heat until ready to serve with meatballs.
Step 4
Take out of the oven and skewer with cocktail sticks. Garnish with extra thyme and seasoning. Serve with the sweet and spicy Asian sauce.
