- 6 whole heads of garlic
- 4 tablespoons sweet butter
- 1/3 cup chicken stock
- Coarse salt to taste
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Remove papery outer skin form the garlic heads, leaving the cluster intact.
Arrange the heads in a baking dish just large enough to hold them comfortably. Add the butter and stock to the pan and set it in the middle level of the oven.
Bake for 1 hour, basting every 10 minutes or so, until garlic heads are golden brown and tender. Season to taste with coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. Serve immediately.
