Great pizza sauce that you can freeze for later use.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon(s) olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 800 grams canned chopped tomatoes
- 2 teaspoon(s) sugar
- 1 handful(s) fresh basil leaves, chopped
Method
Step 1
Heat a frying pan until hot, and then add the oil, onions and garlic and fry for 3-4 minutes.
Step 2
Add the tomatoes, sugar and the chopped basil and bring to the boil.
Step 3
Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper and set aside to cool.
Step 4
It freezes well, so double up and keep for the next time for a speedy pizza.
