Beef Braai Ribs

Beautiful Beef Braai Ribs. Alternate with pork ribs for something equally delicious.


  • 2kg Beef ribs
  • 1 onion
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup of dark brown sugar
  • 50ml cider vinegar
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons hot mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 100ml soy sauce
  • 100ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 100ml tomato sauce
  • 50ml tomato paste


Step 1

Quarter the onion and the lemon, add to a large pot of water. Add the ribs and bring to the boil.

Step 2

Reduce the heat so that the water is only sim- mering and cook for an hour and a half. Drain the water out but keep the ribs, onion and lemon in the water.

Step 3

While the ribs are boiling, combine the marinade ingredients and put to one side.

Step 4

Once the ribs are done, pour the marinade over the ribs, making sure they are well covered in the sauce and leave for at least an hour.

Step 5

Braai on a medium heat to make the sauce sticky and ensure the ribs are heated through.

Step 6

The ribs are delicious and tender. Serve with a fresh green salad and potato salad.
