Beef & Stout Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 kg brisket, cubed
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsps vinegar
  • 340ml stout or beer
  • 500ml water
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 200g carrots, diced
  • 200g carrots, diced
  • 1 packet rich oxtail soup powder

Method

Step 1

Brown the meat in hot oil, add the onion and fry for a few minutes. Add the pepper, mixed herbs and sugar.

Step 2

Heat vinegar, beer/stout and water. Add the stock cube and pour over the meat. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 - 2 hours.

Step 3

Add the stew mix and let the dish simmer until your vegetables and meat are tender. Lastly, stir in the rich oxtail soup powder to thicken the sauce. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Serve with sadza or mash.
