These ribs are flavourful and something completely different to have for dinner. As they cook they become tender and the meat falls off the bone.
Ingredients
- 21⁄2 kg pork spare ribs
- 2 tbsps peanut oil
- 1⁄2 cup char siu sauce
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- 1⁄2 cup orange juice
- 5cm piece fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 red chilli, finely chopped
- 2 tsps sesame oil
Method
Step 1
Cut the rib racks into pieces to fit a 4.5 litre slow cooker. Heat the peanut oil in a large frying pan and cook ribs, in batches, until browned all over.
Step 2
Combine the sauces, juice, ginger, garlic, chilli and sesame oil in a jug and brush all over the ribs. Place the ribs in the slow cooker and pour over the remaining sauce. Cook, covered, on low for 7 hours. Remove the ribs from the sauce and cover to keep warm. Place the sauce in a medium pan and bring to the boil. Boil, uncovered, for about 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened slightly.
Step 3
Serve the ribs, drizzled with the sauce over steamed rice and broccoli.
