Granadillas have a sweet-tart fresh flavour, and are known worldwide as a natural dessert on their own. They contain Vitamins A, C, and K, Phosphorus, Iron, and Calcium. The fruit is usually cracked open and the pulp and seeds are consumed with a spoon. They can also be used in cold drinks and sherbets. Granadilla pulp also freezes well if you have an excess of them!
- 1 large ripe mango
- 4 granadillas
- 1-2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1-2 tbsp caster sugar
Peel the mango, scrape the flesh from the stone and purée in a food processor.
Put into a bowl with the granadilla seeds and juice; add the lime juice and sugar to taste. Cover and chill.
Serve with ice cream.
