Ingredients
- 60ml soy sauce
- 60g brown sugar
- 60ml rice wine
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger, chopped
- crushed red chilli flakes to taste
- 900g chicken drumsticks
- sesame seeds, to garnish
Method
Step 1
Whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice wine, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and ginger in a shallow bowl. Add a pinch of crush red chilli flakes if desired. Place chicken in marinade and turn to coat. Cover and set aside in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2
Prepare the braai. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place on the braai. Pour remaining marinade into a saucepan and set aside. Grill the chicken over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
Step 3
Heat reserved marinade to simmer and cook for 2-4 minutes until slightly reduced. Brush each drumstick with some marinade and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
