These delicious fruits are bursting with flavour during the warmer months, if you can’t find a cantaloupe any round version will do – Persian or Honeydew.
- 1 orange cantaloupe melon
- 300 mL white rum
- 6 tablespoon(s) castor sugar
- 2 big juicy lemons, squeezed
- 1 handful of ice cubes per glass
Slice the melon into thin wedges. Lay in a flat rectangular shaped container and drizzle with the rum. Cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours (2-4 if possible) so that the melon can soak up the booze.
In a cocktail shaker, mix the sugar with the lemon juice and shake until dissolved. Add the rum from the melons, and shake to mix
Divide the mixture between the long glasses, and add a few slices of the melon to each glass. Top with crushed ice and use the melon slices as a swizzle stick. Sip slowly!
