Ingredients
- FOR THE PASTRY
- 240g plain flour
- 60g vegetable shortening
- 60g cold butter
- 1 pinch of salt
- 250ml cold water
- approx. 350g mincemeat
- icing sugar (for dusting)
- FOR THE MINCEMEAT - Makes about 600ml
- 150g soft dark brown sugar
- 400g fresh apples, chopped
- 1tsp ground cinnamon
- 1tsp ground ginger
- 1⁄2 tsp ground cloves
- 75g currants
- 75g raisins
- 1 orange, grated zest and juiced
- 25ml brandy
- 3 drops almond essence
- 1⁄2 tsp vanilla essence
- 2 tbsps honey
