Pizza, a firm favourite for many people whether as a snack, on picnics or enjoyed amongst friends at a relaxed dinner party. Even better with homemade dough.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp of dried yeast
- Pinch of salt
- 140ml warm water
- 180g plain flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp of dried basil
- 18 pepperoni slices
- 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp of tomato purée
- 1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves of garlic sliced thinly
Method
Step 1
Pizza Base - Mix salt and yeast together in a jug with the water. Place flour in a bowl, make a well in the centre and add the water mixture along with the oil.
Step 2
Use a wooden spoon to mix everything to create a wet dough. Put on floured surface and knead for 5mins.
Step 3
Place in greased bowl and cover with tea towel. Leave at room temperature to rise for 30minutes (should double in size).
Step 4
Roll out into a circular pizza, and lightly prick the base with a fork several times.
Step 5
Pizza Topping - Spread tomato purée over the base. Add chopped tomatoes on top then add onion and garlic.
Step 6
Sprinkle over cheese and arrange Pepperoni. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle on basil.
Step 7
Place pizza on oiled baking sheet.
Step 8
Cook at 200°C for 20 minutes or until the cheese bubbles and it is golden brown.
