Spaghetti Bolognese

  • 400g beef mince
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 400g tinned tomatoes
  • 400ml stock
  • 2tsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Step 1

Heat a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add a tbsp of olive oil and cook 400g beef mince with salt and pepper until browned. Transfer the mince to a bowl and set aside. Add another tbsp of oil to the saucepan and turn the heat to medium. Add 1 diced onion and fry for 5-6 minutes.

Step 2

Add 1 tsp garlic and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour the mince and any juices in the bowl back into the saucepan. Add 400g tinned tomatoes to the pan and stir well to mix. Pour in 400ml stock, bring to a simmer and then reduce the temperature to simmer gently for 45 minutes, or until the sauce is thick and rich.

Step 3

Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary. Serve with spaghetti cooked to package instructions.
