This poached pear recipe is a perfect dessert option for cold winter nights or as an elegant, ‘fancy’ brunch dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 Pears
- 1 cup(s) Sugar
- 1 Bottle Sparkling Sweet Rosé
- 2 cup(s) Water
- 1 Cinnamon Stick, Halved
- 1 Lemon, Zest
- 1 Orange, Zest
- Cream or Ice-Cream to serve
Method
Step 1
Peel the pears, keeping the stems intact if possible. Squeeze a little lemon juice over them to stop them from browning.
Step 2
Place the sugar, Robertson Winery Sparkling Sweet Rosé, water, cinnamon, lemon and orange zest in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar has fully dissolved then increase heat and bring to the boil.
Step 3
Once the poaching liquid has come to the boil, reduce the heat again and add the pears. Cover the pears completely with a piece of foil. Cook for 20 minutes or until tender.
Step 4
Allow to cool completely or serve warm with cream or ice cream and a drizzle of poaching liquid.
