Spring Apple Pie

A sweet easy to make recipe ideal for tea parties.


  • 1/2 cup(s) Butter
  • 1/3 cup(s) Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup(s) Plain Flour
  • 200 grams Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1/4 cup(s) Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Vanilla Extract
  • 3 Apples, cored, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup(s) Sugar
  • 1 handful(s) Slivered Almonds


Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C

Step 2

Make the crust: Cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the vanilla. Finally, mix in the flour to make a smooth dough.

Step 3

Roll out and press into a greased pie tin. Bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden

Step 4

While the crust bakes, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla for the cream filling until smooth. Make the topping by tossing the apple slices with the cinnamon and sugar.

Step 5

Remove the tart shell from the oven. Spread over the cream mixture.

Step 6

Arrange the apple slices on top. Sprinkle with slivered almonds. (optional)

Step 7

Bake until the apples are tender and golden, about 40 minutes.
