A delightful treat for any curry meal , party or starter.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup(s) Chana Dal
- 1/2 cup(s) Split Moong Dal
- 2 Medium Sized Boiled and Mashed Potatoes
- 2 Green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon(s) Chopped Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) Crushed Black Pepper
- 2 teaspoon(s) Crushed Coriander
- 1 litre(s) Oil to fry
Method
Step 1
Wash and soak chana and moong dal in four cups of water for at least four hours or more, after soaking the dal will be about double the volume.
Step 2
Blend dal coarsely, add water if needed to blend but not more than 2-3 tablespoons. I use a food processor; it does a good job for blending dal coarsely without much water.
Step 3
Next mix all the ingredients together; this will make soft and crumbly dough. Divide the dough into 7-8 equal parts and make them into patties with a centre hole.
Step 4
Heat the oil in saucepan over medium high heat. Par deep-fry the patties until they are light brown - about 5 minutes. Cool for a few minutes before double-frying.
Step 5
Increase oil heat and fry them again until they are golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with pickles or chutney.
